Karen (Shalowitz) Price graduated with honors from Northwestern University in 1974. After completing her pre-training requirements from 1977-1978, she trained at the Rolf Institute of Structural Integration from 1978-1979. She received her advanced certification in 1988.
Karen specializes in Rolfing® babies, children, and teenagers in her private practice in Palo Alto, California. She recently completed six years of clinical research at Stanford University School of Medicine. In Nov. 2011, Karen and her team received a two-year grant from the Gerber Foundation to study Rolfing® for young children with Cerebral Palsy. The grant was later extended until the summer of 2014. For more information on the results of this research, see the articles published in Nov. 2011, July 2014, and Sep. 2015. She has also received a grant from the Ida P. Rolf Research Foundation.
Karen practices meditation and yoga and integrates these into her work. She completed a rigorous 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training with Yogaworks, and is not only a Certified Yoga Therapist, but also a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance. She has also studied directly with Sonia Sumar, founder of Yoga for Special Needs Children, and is certified to practice yoga with children ages 0-12.
Karen is a member of several professional organizations, including the Rolf Institute of Structural Integration, the Guild for Structural Integration, the International Association of Structural Integrators, the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals, and the International Association of Yoga Therapists. She is also a founding member of the Fascia Research Society.
